"Eruption" is an instrumental by Van Halen from their first album Van Halen. Written and performed by Eddie Van Halen, this electric guitar solo is considered one of the most influential instrumentals of all time, appearing on many 'greatest guitar solos' lists, including a recent Guitar World poll.

"Enter Sandman" is a song by American heavy metal band Metallica, appearing as both the opening track and the lead single from their eponymous 1991 album Metallica.

Rudolf Haken is a viola professor at University of Illinois.

Electric violas may be built with an internal preamplifier, or may put out the unbuffered transducer signal. While such raw signals may be fed directly to an amplifier or mixing board, they often benefit from an external preamp/equalizer on the end of a short cable, before being fed to the sound system.
